Clutch. Confidence. Composure. Japeth

(c) Spin.ph

He did it once with Talk 'N Text, he did it again with Meralco.

It was exactly one minute when Ginebra is down by 5 or 6 (lol forgive my retention problems), Coach Ato drew a play for big man Jr Reyes, a quick corner three, made it. Mark Caguioa fouled John Wilson, splits from the line. A missed three pointer by Aguilar. Meralco ball with around 30 seconds left on the game clock. It was a total chaos for us fans. We don't want to see Meralco tearing up our team once again but I was on the edge of giving this game up to the Bolts. But our team, Ginebra, did not want to experience that loss to the same team AGAIN.

Back to the ball game, I honestly don't know who took the last shot for Meralco but it was a good look from the basket, it could have gone it but thank goodness it didn't. Scramble for the loose ball. Ginebra ball! According to the referees, Jared Dillinger touched it last. No timeouts left for Ginebra. Kumbaga kung ano yung na-set na play ni Coach Ato nung last timeout, they can stick to that or come what may na play na lang.

11 seconds. 11 seconds to come up with a shot that could tie the ballgame up and send this to overtime o possibly win the game with a three-pointer. At the backcourt he was with Japeth Aguilar, a very familiar scene to us. Anjo Caram's defense to LA was that sticky, very sticky. Inaasawa si Gineral. 4 seconds left, still the ball was with LA. He has to come up with a shot or to feed another teammate and then he saw Japeth, who's patiently waiting for that pass. He sent that ball to Japeth who's hounded by the physical defense of Reynel Hugnatan. A couple of pushes from Reynel, a couple of dribbles from Aguilar, a step back, and a three. Tapos nagwala na ako.

Words can't simply explain my feelings that time. It was nostalgic, magical, juice ko lahat na. That clutch, confidence and composure that Japeth had to make that shot was spot on. Thank you Japeth, LA, Jr and the rest of the Barangay for ending this year so gooooooooood. Labyu!

To Barangay Ginebra San Miguel:

Hi Ginebra! Andito na naman tayoo, medyo do or die game tayo bukas. Hehe.

Kaya yan at kakayanin 'to mga sir! Tiwala at kapit lang! Darating din ang Good News!

Love lots,
KC;)

FEU VS. DLSU Battle for 2nd Place (Post game reaction)

Let me clear this: I am fan of FEU so expect me to be bias here. :)))))))
(c) ph.yahoo.com
What went wrong?

We all know that the FEU is number one in terms of 3 point percentage (which is around 28%) and in this ballgame, they only made 5 out of 34 shots. It was like the ring did not like the 3 points of FEU or something.

I think the 2-3 zone defense really worked at the paint for us but the downside of having a 2-3 zone defense is, it will be harder for the guards to contest more outside shots from the opposing team and that's what happen. DLSU will always locate for their open shooter especially LA "Threevilla", he just made 6 out of his 11 three point attempts. (His' beyond the arc conversions are bigger than to FEU team as a whole)

For me, playing against La Salle is more difficult on our part because we don't have the strongest of the centers in the UAAP, yes we got 2 imports, Hargrove and Sentchu but Hargrove is more of a PG or SG (according to him, because in the States, his natural position is 1 or 2) and Sentchu really needs to train more to somehow match the other import-centers in the UAAP. Also, we are a guard oriented team, we don't rely much on our centers. Unfortunately, Coach Juno pulled his Twin Towers when FEU was trying to make a run at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Well, FEU still has another game to try to win against DLSU because there is no other game to win but that ballgame obviously. We are on the twice to win disadvantage and the FEU team must find solutions to their poor scoring especially in the Caidic country.

I will still b3lieve!

Hi FEU Cheering Squad! Well, this is my sort of love letter to you *wenk wenk wenk* :)

Sige, may chance tayong mag-place dito!

Announcement of winners na. Lahat na napapadasall, napapakapit, napapapikit na. 2nd runner up, La Salle. Sige sabi ko, kaya pa 'to, baka 1st runner up tayo, tiwala lang. 1st runner up ... UP. Champions ... NU pala. Sige, kayo na hehe.

Natahimik kami. Lahat tayo. Baka nga may naiyak pa eh.

I will still b3lieve!

Love lots,

Who will win Game 3?

As of now, we can't answer that. That why I'm really hoping that June 2 will approach sooner because I really wanted to watch the Finals Game 3 of the Shakey's V League Year 10 1st conference.

First game will the game 3 of the battle for the third place between Adamson University Lady Falcons and University of the Santo Tomas Tigresses. This will be an exciting match because we all know that Angela Benting, Mylene Paat, Rhea Dimaculangan and Aiza Maizo (guest players) will be the go to persons to this match. I wanted to see who's team will go out stronger with their offense and tight with their defense. For the Lady Falcons, (1) they need to have better defense against the offense minded Tigresses, (2) they need to score from block points and (3) they must utilize all of their attackers while they are in front. For the Tigresses (1) They should own the game, there are games that you can really feel that UST's gonna win the game because of their confidence inside the court (2) Continue their defense. Maika Ortiz alone score 6 blocks point in game 2 if I'm not mistaken (3) Go for cross-court/back-court attacks, since the libero of the Falcons is taller, she'll have a hard time digging for the ball.

Second game *drum roll please* *instrumental please* The most awaited game 3 between National University Lady Bulldogs and the reigning champs of the Shakey's V League, the Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagles. Woohoo I'm a little bit biased to this one because I love underdogs, I definitely root for NU this time. They just need to continue their powerful attacks (Hi Urdas, Pablo, Aganon & Santiago sisters!) because the Ateneo defense can't contain it and maintain their intensity in their defense (blocks, floor defense) But I know Ateneo will not just let the Lady Bulldogs steal the championship from them. Well Ahomiro was a good addition to the line-up of Coach Roger and it's really working. (The female version of Nico Salva lol) Valdez must go from the back-row attacks more often to avoid the blocks of NU and to break down their defense too. And let Jeng Bualee do the open attacks for them.

I'm just so excited for Sunday's game! :D

No Jones Cup for Gilas?

Breaking news - The Taiwanese organizers of the William Jones Cup just un-invited the Gilas Pilipinas to join the said competition.

(c) interaksyon.com

But why NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW?

It's really sad to think that our national team will not be able to defend their title because of the dispute between Taiwan and the Philippines. We all knew that the Jones Cup will be the one of the huge preparations of the Gilas for the FIBA Asia that will be happening this August in the country. In the Jones Cup, the Gilas will have the opportunity to play with different Asian teams that will compete also for FIBA Asia, they can also scout the players and they can prepare more specific gameplans for each Asian team that will be joining the Jones Cup and the Fiba as well. There are many setbacks because of this...but what can we do?

(1) They really need to find alternative invitational cup/s to join so that they can practice more as a team.
(2) Well, it can be a blessing in disguise because other Asian teams will be having a hard time to scout the team.

But at the back of my mind, I'm still hoping that the Gilas can still play for the Jones Cup and beat the Chinese-Taipei team. ;)

You got to fear the UE Red Warriors this S76 \m/

(c) gmanetwork.com

They’re for real folks. With their six rookies and a lot of veteran players coming back to the team, also with the veteran coaching of Coach Boycie Zamar, this squad will be the one to watch out for in the upcoming UAAP Season 76.

Well, they just defeated the De La Salle Green Archers in the 2013 Fil-Oil Flying V Premier Cup today with the score of 60-53 and they win the game convincingly because their defense was just so solid and they forced so many turnovers against La Salle and made a profit from the La Salle turnovers. It was a tight ballgame but the UE Red Warriors made the final minute push with their court general, Roy Zumang scoring back-to-back shots that pushed their lead to seven.

Now, they are in the second top spot in the Group B standings, just next to Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU). It will be an exciting conference next season because of the resurgence of this Warriors squad. :D

Never Say Die Once Again!

Yes! Finally, after losing to Rain Or Shine for the two consecutive All Filipino Cup Quarterfinals, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel defeated ROS and will head into the semi-finals of the Commissioner's Cup. Though the Elastopainters have the twice to beat advantage, the Barangay proved that they still has the Never-Say-Die spirit in them. Without their prolific scorer and the reigning MVP, Mark Caguioa, they still managed to pull off two consecutive wins against the top two seed in the ongoing cup.

For now, all of the Ginebra fans out there are still enjoying the win because it was a tight ballgame, kung may magsasabi pang luto yung laro ewan ko na lang. It was an entertaining match because ROS is a very tough team to beat and the Kings had a bad history playing with ROS in Q-finals. At the last minutes of the game, those 3 point shots released by the Elastopainters gave me nerves because Josh Urb had only 3points and LA Tenorio only scored two points. There is no legit 3 point shooter at that moment for Ginebra. But thank God because offensive rebounds kept us alive, Vernon Macklin clearing up the boards and a putback. Also, without the last two freethrows by V-Mack, the game would probably proceed to overtime.

Hoooo, semis baby! <3 p="">

What are your thoughts about the never say die attitude of the Kings? Tell it here ;)

Never Say Die Ginebra!

This is one of the best games of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (BGSM) that I've ever seen. They just proved to everyone that they are still the only Never Say Die team in the PBA.

And now, finally, we the whole Ginebra fandom can now say that Jayjay Helterbrand IS back! Scoring all of his 13 points in the 4th quarter, including crucial shots that made the Ginebra claim the lead. I just can't put all of my happiness into words. :)))) But they should win their next game this Monday to secure a semi-finals seat. Let's all support them in any way, by social media, by going to Smart-Araneta to watch the game. One last push na 'to Ginebra, Never Say Die!

What do you think about tonight's game? Feel free to comment here. ;)

Good news, bad news for Ginebra

This coming play-offs of the Commissioner's cup our dear Ginebra squad will face the Rain or Shine Elastopainters with a two-game disadvantage and I should thank Meralco Bolts for this (joke, their game with ROS is a very good one. I was hoping that ROS will win that ballgame, but Eric Dawson's shooting spree went on. 50 HUGE points men.) Plus Billy Mamaril is out for a month due to his injured finger and there is still no clear go signal for Mark Caguioa to play in the Quarterfinals. Well, that is the bad news.

But wait, there is also good news for us! Josh Urbiztondo, the star point guard player of the Barako Bull Energy Cola was traded to Ginebra today in exchange for rookie Keith Jensen and a second round pick in the next year's PBA draft. He averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists for the  Energy Cola in the elimination round of Comm.'s Cup. For me, this is a good pick by Ginebra because it is uncertain that Mark will come back by Q-finals and LA Tenorio needs a back-up PG. Tenorio can't stay for 40 minutes always in a ballgame. Let's just hope that the Fireball can deliver quality minutes for the Barangay as we try to survive Quarterfinals and head to the Semis! Never Say Die!

What are your thoughts about the Ginebra trade? Feel free to comment. :D

When Jerome and Vernon collided

Oh snap, Ginebra lost to Talk N' Text yesterday and it was a dominating ballgame for the Tropang Texters. With their new import, Jerome Jordan, he really defended Macklin well. He couldn't get his normal hook shots and perimeter shots. Jordan is a 7 footer and he has a 90 inch wingspan, no doubt that he can make things difficult for Macklin. It was intimidating for him to defend Jordan because unlike Bruno Sundov who is also a 7 footer, Jordan is more of the athletic type guy and he can bang bodies inside the painted area. Oh well, let's just hope that we will not face TNT again in the play-offs, please. :)
Note: Good thing Jerome Jordan looks like Kelly Williams, kung hindi, hate ko na s'ya. Kidding aside. =))

(c) interaksyon.com/interaktv

Now that Ginebra is in the sixth place as of now, we, the fans are eagerly praying that Rain or shine will win their last game to Meralco Bolts so that Barangay Ginebra San Miguel can retain their place in the standings in the Commisioner's Cup  and avoid being on the seventh spot. Never Say Die!

5-game Winning Streak Baby!

Yes, yes yes! 5-game winning streak for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Commissioner's Cup! Without,  the reigning MVP, Mark Caguioa, without Kerby Raymundo (Get well soon!) and Rico Maierhofer, Ginebra  just stepped on the gas and won this fifth consecutive game.

The jersey says it all ;)
.

Another mamaw performance for Vernon Macklin, he scored 32 points, 11 rebounds, 6 of them came from the offensive end, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 2 assists. He also improved his freethrow shooting, he made 12 out of 21 attempts, 57.1 %. As expected, LA Tenorio showed to fans that he can exploded in any given ballgame, with his double-double performance, 18 points & 11 rebound plus 6 assists and a steal, leading the charge for the locals. Though, the Ginebra squad missed the services of Caguioa, Raymundo and Maierhofer, Coach Al Francis Chua's "hugots" was a surprise to the Air21 Express especially Elmer Espiritu who hit a 3-pointer in the crucial last 3 minutes of the game.

Another emphatic slam by Macklin (C) Paolo Papa

Despite of the fiery 29 point explosion of KG Canaleta, it was not enough to surpass the defense of Ginebra who just allowed the Express to score 84 points. Michael Dunkin' Dunigan was fouled out in the late 4th quarter and just scored 16 points.

Oh yes, finally I'm a bit relieved that Ginebra will be in the Q-finals but before that, they must go out and play  harder. There were times in the game that I just want to change the channel because some of their turnovers were unforgivable and they have some difficulties in communication and handling the ball. Fortunately, their defense saved them and they V-Mack was attacking inside the shaded area, though many of his hook shots failed at least he could somehow get it from the charity line. A win is a win anyway, they just need to be hard on defense and trust one another off and on the court. Yehey! <3 p="">

HAPPYLADY :D
